The Drowning Girls presented by Bent Out of Shape Productions (Deep End Series)
Persephone Theatre, River Landing
Bessie, married 2 years drowned in bath, Alice married six weeks
drowned in bath, Margaret married one day drowned in bath. George Joseph Smith "the brides in the bath murderer" was brought
to justice by Scotland Yard in 1915, but how does a man convince three women to
take out life insurance policies and marry him within days of meeting him? The
three breathless brides surface from bathtubs full of water to gather evidence
against their womanizing, murderous, husband by reliving the shocking events
leading up to their deaths. The Drowning Girls swept Calgary's Betty Mitchell
Awards, winning four awards, including best production. |

Peer Gynt presented by Greystone Theatre
Emrys Jones Studio Theatre -- John Mitchell Building (U of S campus) @ 8:00pm (no shows on Sundays)
“May, be thyself.” This stern admonition resounds
powerfully in the plot of Peer Gynt, Ibsen’s sprawling
verse epic that ranges wildly across realms rustic,
exotic and fantastic. It’s a credo that the drama’s
title character, a bumpkin who embarks on a series of
adventures in the mundane and the metaphysical,
ultimately fails to live by. He realizes too late nobody
can exist alone. Peer Gynt represented, as Ibsen wrote,
“a process of spiritual liberation and catharsis” for
the title character as well as for the playwright.
Though Ibsen himself regarded it as his play least
likely to be understood outside of his country, it has
become one of his most universal works. Written by Henrik Ibsen
and
Directed by James Guedo. |

When you're out of work, out of hope and need to make some money
fast what do you do — well strip of course. Inspired by a group of
Chippendale-like strippers that just left town, six unemployed steel workers
decide to put on their own show and to ensure success they'll take it one step
further and do "the full monty". With more courage than talent they prepare for
the big night and find friendship, fun and their dignity as they peel away the
layers. Adult content and language. Brief nudity |
